This week our assignment was to use the cameras we plan to use on our upcoming shoot. We have the wonderful opportunity of working with some Columbia local performers. To prepare my partner Ellie & I decided to focus on sequencing movements.

Last week we were tasked in #J448 with making a "How To" video using only sequenced shots & no audio. This week we were challenged to better this video of ours adding in audio, titles, and anything else we felt would help bring together the viewing senses. Enjoy! Below you can view my instructional video on making a teepee fire. Being able to make a fire can be useful for keeping away bugs, preparing food & water and lots more. The objective of this assignment was to focus on our shot sequencing when telling a story. Audio was not allowed. My name is Cole Lowery and I am a senior Visual Communications major. My interest in communications began early high school when I joined the school's broadcast class. Since then I have reported, and photographed on a wide range of topics; this includes everything from a school play to on scene crime reports. I am most comftortable with my Canon Rebel T3i when shooting video, but have used several other models for photos including the Canon 60D & 50D. As you might be able to tell- I prefer Canon. I am also pretty comfortable with Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Premier.
My favorite form of photography is the portrait. As you can see in some of my work from my trip to Africa, I love capturing the emotion of others. My favorite part is the person's reaction to seeing a photo of themself and how good / happy they feel afterward. Since coming to college I have leaned more towards photography than video. This past Summer I had the opportunity to serve as the Visual Public Relations Intern at a Power company called Santee Cooper. Working for Santee Cooper gave me the perfect opportunities to practice wildlife photography. The colors and beauty of the creatures made me realize this was a close tie to my favorite type of photography. Below you can view a picture of me at my internship this Summer as well as one of my favorite photos from the Summer. |
